Workshops for Executives
Suki's Client is the world leader in the design and manufacture of tools and systems used to create radiopharmaceuticals for nuclear medicine diagnostic procedures. The Client was well established as a market leader and profitable as well. But to grow it needed new ways to think about doing business, reducing guess work, and eliminating waste. Some examples of problem areas included excess production, high delivery costs, and assumption of accountability across the organization. Using her proprietary Lean Six Sigma learning materials, Suki delivered a series of workshops for the Client's executive leadership, and coached the participants on improvement projects over a six month time frame. The Client identified and worked on five strategic initiatives during the learning process. Though the teams initially struggled with the scope and ownership of projects, they were able to finalize them in ways that allowed the company to remain profitable and prepare for future growth.
Workflow Analysis at an Insurance Company
Within just seven weeks, Suki observed and documented workflows in the Claims Processing Department to identify excess capacity. The final recommendations (and supporting process maps, capacity analyses, time studies, and cycle time analyses) were presented to the Client along with the opportunities to increase workload by nearly 25% across the department.
Curriculum Development
Suki managed the deployment of a learning intervention to support a quality and process improvement initiative at a publicly held company specializing in travel and hospitality. By leveraging existing curriculum and adapting it to support the proficiency level envisioned by the Client, Suki delivered a customized program in just seven weeks at a far lesser cost than licensing the same volume of custom material from a commercial provider, and in less time.
E-Learning Intervention
Suki returned to a Client in the travel and leisure industry on a new engagement to adapt White Belt classroom content to an online format. By partnering with a colleague who specializes in technology solutions, Suki created a fun, easy-to-use module which was subsequently deemed mandatory for all employees. Beginning with the end in mind, Suki established ways to measure the success of the program, was simple to interpret, and easy to access through the existing Learning Management System (LMS). One critical requirement was to ensure that the module would be easily adaptable without additional investment to the new LMS which the Client expected to have on line within six months. Once the Client's new LMS was in place the module was effortlessly loaded and ready to be used with no down time.
Project Coaching
Suki was engaged by a power systems manufacturer to alievieate Lean Six Sigma project management challenges. During the course of this engagement Suki met on a regular basis with a small team of Black Belts to develop project management skills to drive projects forward. The engagement started with a baseline survey to gauge the group's aptitude and comfort level with managing projects. Subsequently, the group attended a one-day workshop focusing on a suite of basic tools to help drive projects forward, followed by several months of small group and one-on-one meetings to provide support in the use of the tools. Suki also created a check list for each of the five DMAIC stages aimed at ensuring that major deliverables and milestones common to all Lean Six Sigma projects were met. The group used the checklists on their own projects and introduced them to projects that they mentor, as well.
